Game & Purchasing Basics
Is The Blood of Dawnwalker free to play?
No — The Blood of Dawnwalker is a premium action RPG published by Bandai Namco and developed by Rebel Wolves. It is available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S as a single purchase with no microtransactions.
What platforms is The Blood of Dawnwalker on?
The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3, 2026 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is built in Unreal Engine 5 and supports both console and PC play.
How long does it take to beat The Blood of Dawnwalker?
A focused story run takes approximately 20-30 hours for the main questline. Completionist players exploring all regions, finding all 14 Ancient Circles, collecting legendary equipment, and completing all companion questlines can expect 50-80 hours.
Does The Blood of Dawnwalker have co-op?
No — The Blood of Dawnwalker is a single-player, story-driven RPG with no co-op or PvP at launch. The companion system is the closest alternative: Anca, Lacra and Crake fight alongside you, with personal questlines and romance arcs that deepen through affinity.
Is The Blood of Dawnwalker multiplayer or 2 player?
No — The Blood of Dawnwalker is strictly single-player. There is no multiplayer, 2-player split-screen, shared world or crossplay of any kind; the campaign follows Coen's solo 30-day journey. Rebel Wolves describes it as chapter one of a single-player saga, and no online mode has been announced.
Gameplay, Combat & Builds
How does the day/night cycle affect gameplay?
The game runs on a time-slot system with 16 units per cycle. During daytime, Coen uses Swordmastery and standard weapons. At night, Witchcraft unlocks and vampire claws become available. You have 30 in-game days to complete the main story.
What is directional blocking?
Directional blocking is the core combat mechanic. Match your block direction to the incoming attack (high, mid, or low) for a free block that staggers the enemy. Omni-blocking works but drains Fatigue rapidly. Learning the three directions is essential for surviving harder fights.
What are the skill trees?
Three skill trees: Swordmastery (works day and night, best for beginners), Witchcraft (powerful night-only magic abilities), and Vampirism (enhances your vampire nature). Higher-tier skills require finding manuals scattered across the world.
What are Ancient Circles?
Ancient Circles are 14 Witchcraft stone monuments scattered across the map of Vale Sangora. Interacting with each one permanently boosts your Witchcraft ability pool. Finding all 14 is essential for maximizing your nighttime combat potential.
What is the best build for beginners?
Start with Swordmastery for reliable day-and-night combat, then invest in Witchcraft for powerful nighttime abilities. Equip a Silver Sword as your primary weapon and keep healing potions stocked. This build works for all content without requiring specific gear or timing.
Story, Bosses & Companions
Who is the main character?
You play as Coen, a dawnwalker — human by day and vampire by night. Set in 14th-century Europe's Vale Sangora region (Carpathian Mountains), Coen navigates the conflict between rulers, rebels, and survivors during the Black Death era.
How do the Vrakhiri Court bosses work?
The Vrakhiri Court consists of four vampire lords: Brencis, Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe. Each is a major boss fight unlocked through story progression. Defeating them grants Vrakhir Blood, which unlocks new vampire abilities for Coen.
Who are the companions?
Three companions can join your party: Anca (Witchcraft support), Lacra (stealth and daggers), and Crake (tank with greatsword). All three are romance options with personal questlines that unlock as you build affinity.
Should you kill or spare Chariklea?
You never fight Chariklea directly — her fate follows your choice on Xanthe. Kill Xanthe and you choose between a quick mercy kill (the community-recommended option) or leaving her to fade slowly; spare Xanthe and she remains in her half-state. The choice also affects ending narration and achievements.
