Crake - Location & How to Kill

Crake is encountered in the Northern Swamps after you defeat Brencis and unlock the second region. He is the third main companion in The Blood of Dawnwalker and the tank specialist of the group. A massive warrior wielding a Greatsword, Crake excels at absorbing damage and controlling enemy positioning during combat.

Crake joins during the early Northern Swamps main questline. After defeating Brencis and earning Vrakhir Blood, progress the main quest into the swamp entrance. Crake is found holding a defensive position against swamp creatures — assist him in combat, then complete his introductory dialogue to recruit him. He is an essential companion for the Swordmastery Tank build and provides crucial aggro management during boss fights.

Crake fills the tank role in your party. His Greatsword deals high per-hit damage, and his defensive stance allows him to absorb enemy attacks that would otherwise hit Coen. During daytime, Crake uses standard Greatsword combos and directional blocking. At night, he gains minor stat bonuses but has no special night-only abilities — his value is consistent regardless of time.

Building affinity with Crake unlocks deeper dialogue, combat synergies, and his personal questline. The quest reveals his history with the Rebel Wolves and provides important context for the political conflict in Vale Sangora. High affinity with Crake also unlocks a unique Greatsword combo that syncs with Coen's Swordmastery attacks.

Crake synergizes best with the Swordmastery Tank build. His Greatsword tanking allows Coen to focus on damage while Crake absorbs aggro. Pair Crake with the Greatsword weapon type for maximum synergy — when both Coen and Crake wield Greatswords, their attacks stagger enemies more frequently. Crake is less effective in Witchcraft-focused parties, as his value comes from physical combat rather than supernatural abilities.
